Your Step-by-Step Aftercare
& Recovery Guide.
Straightforward, expert instructions designed to ensure a perfectly safe, smooth, and stress-free healing window at home.
Healing Timeline: Days 1 to 30
Phase 1: The First 24 Hours (The Olive Oil Cushion)
The Goal: Prevent Sticking
On the day of your procedure, a protective gauze dressing is applied to the anatomy. Every two hours until bedtime, apply several generous drops of pure olive oil directly onto this gauze dressing.
Do not try to move, alter, or remove the bandage. The heavy layer of olive oil keeps the dressing perfectly damp and lubricated, acting as a soothing barrier that prevents the cotton fabric from drying out and sticking painfully to the raw skin.
Phase 2: Day 2 (The First Bath & Safe Removal)
The Goal: Gentle, Natural Dressing Release
On the second morning, prepare a warm, gentle salt (saline) bath. Submerge the lower body completely and let the child or adult sit comfortably in the water for 10 to 15 minutes.
The heavily oiled dressing will naturally soften, absorb the warm water, and slide off smoothly by itself into the bath. Never force, pull, or tear the dressing away. If it clings slightly to a specific spot, simply apply more oil and allow it more time to release naturally. Once removed, begin daily warm salt baths to maintain absolute hygiene.
Phase 3: Days 3 to 30 (The Friction Shield)
The Goal: Safeguard the Stitch-Free Edges
For the remainder of the month, you must create a protective barrier to shield the healing skin from friction and bodily fluids. At every single diaper change (for infants) or inside snugly fitted briefs (for teens and adults), apply a thick, generous layer of pure petroleum jelly (Vaseline) directly to the site.
Pro-Tip: To make this effortless for babies, spread a large dollop of petroleum jelly directly onto the inner lining of the fresh diaper before fastening it. This guarantees a frictionless shield without requiring direct rubbing on sensitive skin.
What is Normal vs. Abnormal?
🟢 Completely Normal (Expected Healing)
Initial Swelling & Puffiness: Localised redness and structural bruising around the site are standard side-effects of the numbing block and will naturally recede over the first 36 to 48 hours.
Mild Fluid Oozing: Tiny droplets of clear, amber, or slightly pink-tinged fluid along the stitch-free line during the initial 48 hours is a healthy part of the body's vascular response.
The Yellow Healing Film: A distinct, yellowish-white film or crust will form over the head of the penis. This is a vital, healthy sign of raw skin protecting itself (keratinization). It is not an infection and must never be scrubbed off.
🔴 Requires Immediate
Clinical Attention
Active, Continuous Bleeding: Bright red blood consistently dripping or pooling that does not stop or slow down after applying direct, continuous light pressure for 20 minutes.
Inability to Urinate: If an infant has not wet their diaper, or an adult/teen has been unable to pass urine comfortably within 6 to 8 hours following the conclusion of the surgery.
Systemic Clinical Symptoms: The development of a sudden high fever, continuous crying or severe distress that paracetamol cannot soothe, or any foul-smelling, thick green discharge.
